Back to Oklahoma: Live at the Blue Door
by Paul E. Comeau
Michael Fracasso is indubitably one of the greatest singer/
songwriters from the United States yet to break out of his regional
fan base. Back to Oklahoma features him in a intimate live setting
with backup by guitarist Charlie Sexton, who was also the producer of
Fracasso's previous album. Not to diminish the appeal of this three
other albums, but this stripped-down live approach works exceedingly
well. The gig finds him offering songs from past albums, such as the
title, song, "Brazos River Blues," and "When I Lived in the Wild," as
well as material he has been performing live for some time, including
"1962" and "Never Enough" (his tribute to Lucinda Williams). He also
makes "John Hardy" and "Dirty Old Town" fit his distinctive and
readily identifiable tenor voice.
